TRYON – The Tryon Little Theater is hosting an open house for new volunteers at the TLT Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 7. The event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., aims to attract volunteers interested in stage construction or backstage work.
The open day offers anyone who can handle a hammer, drill or brush the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of a theatre production.
Lindsey Moore, a set designer with 19 years of experience and 53 shows, will be joined by members of TLT’s volunteer team to discuss the various elements of staging a show. Topics include set design and construction, store safety, painting techniques, costumes and show promotion.
“TLT values our volunteers and community partners – without them, this wouldn’t be possible,” said Monica Jones of Tryon Little Theater. “We encourage teamwork and collaboration while having fun sharing talents and interests. Our stage team usually meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the TLT workshop and occasionally on Saturdays before a show starts.”
A light lunch will be served at the free event, after which attendees are invited to join the set crew team working on set for Trailer Park Musical, an upcoming production running September 19-22 and September 26-29 at Trade Street Workshop.
The Tryon Little Theater presents comedies, musicals and dramas at the TLT Trade Street Workshop and the Tryon Fine Arts Center.
The TLT workshop is located at 516 South Trade St., Tryon. For more information, contact the Tryon Little Theater at (828) 859-2466 or visit tltinfo.org.
