Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Developer Treyarch Studios has confirmed that the upcoming shooter will remove the current weapon attachment unlock system that was used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and implement a more classic design. On October 25 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players can unlock weapon attachments per weapon, as opposed to the complicated system that Call of Duty has currently implemented.
In recent years Call of Duty Players were dissatisfied with the weapon attachment unlock system. Unlike classic entries in the series, Modern Warfare 2 made a major change to weapon attachments, forcing players to use different weapons to unlock attachments for other weapons. In years past, players simply had to level up a weapon to unlock all of its attachments, but the change made in 2022 was often criticized by the community as complicated and tedious.
During the big Call of Duty NEXT event on August 28, Treyarch not only revealed BlackOps 6‘s Multiplayer Championship camouflages, but also showed off the game’s new weaponsmith and weapon attachment unlock system. In BlackOps 6Players no longer need to use multiple different weapons to unlock attachments, as each weapon attachment, including grips, stocks, ammo type, and more, is unlocked as players level up their weapon of choice. The only exception to this is weapon optics, which are universal to all weapons and do not need to be unlocked individually.
Black Ops 6 makes big changes to weapon attachments
In a recent blog post about the Call of Duty Website, Treyarch explained how the game’s weaponsmith and weapon attachments will work. With so many weapons available in BlackOps 6it will be a big factor in making each one worthwhile. Thankfully, Treyarch says attachments will now almost always provide a benefit rather than a disadvantage, making it worth investing time into leveling up weapons and unlocking different attachments. The studio also noted that “almost all” optics will be the same for all weapons of every class, so players only need to unlock one optic for a submachine gun, for example, to unlock it for every weapon of that class.
Weapons will also have a wide range of camouflages to unlock, and BlackOps 6Integration of Call of Duty‘s free Battle Royale, war zone, will also have its own unique camouflages and progress tracking. In addition, thanks to BlackOps 6‘s global weapon builds, all custom weapon creations are automatically shared between Multiplayer, Zombies and War zone.
