The shadow gets lost is the latest assassination film from Timo Tjahjanto, the director behind The night comes for us, This was one of 12 epic action movies we previously recommended. received high approval ratings from critics and fans alike on Rotten Tomatoes. This is good news if, like me, you have been disappointed with Netflix’s recent action offerings, like The Union, which was the #1 movie on Netflix for the past two weeks.
As we all know, Netflix movies can be a gamble – and indeed, the latest comedy offering Incoming was panned by critics and received a 27% rating on the review aggregator website, so you can probably see why I’m excited to see more hits to add to our best Netflix movies, and maybe The shadow gets lost is just the right thing.
You’ll have to wait until around Halloween to see it, though. While Tjahjanto’s new film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, it lands on Netflix on October 17. We’re sure it’ll be one of many exciting new additions, but hopefully there will be more horror movies to look forward to. Since October is my favorite time of year, I’m excited to see what the best streaming service has to offer.
Watch on
The first teaser trailer for the new Netflix film is certainly promising. It’s full of fast-paced action sequences where a hitman fights against a crime syndicate, with very little talking. The film is gripping, full of fistfights, gunfights and flashbulbs – everything you could want from an action film! You can watch the teaser in the video above.
What is “The Shadow Strays” about?
The shadow gets lost follows someone known as “Codename 13,” a young assassin who is suspended after a mission gone wrong. During this period of inactivity, she befriends a boy named Monji, who recently lost his mother to a crime syndicate.
But when Monji mysteriously disappears, Codename 13 decides to look for him, even if it means disobeying orders. So we have a missing boy and a renegade killer, the recipe for a very good movie. I can’t wait to see it!
In addition, Netflix states in a statement: “The film delves deeply into themes of redemption and loyalty against the backdrop of a brutal and unforgiving underworld. Audiences can look forward to Tjahjanto’s signature style, with masterfully choreographed action sequences that are guaranteed to captivate them.”
