Fun for everyone
The Little Grassy Get Down is held on the beautiful grounds of Touch of Nature in the Shawnee National Forest, about 8 miles south of Carbondale on Giant City Road. The festival offers amenities and activities for all ages.
“It’s been great to watch this festival evolve,” said Brian Croft, director of Touch of Nature. “Now in its third year, it’s officially a tradition for families from across the country to come back to SIU and Southern Illinois to experience great music and the beauty of our region. This year will be especially special because it coincides with homecoming. Especially for the alumni who are traveling here for homecoming, it will be a bonus to be able to hear the Woodbox Gang perform Little Grassy Get Down. Watch the parade, celebrate, go to the game and then come back and hear some amazing music. Plus, a lot of people stay with us and combine the homecoming festivities with the music festival.”
The Kids Zone features a variety of activities for children, including arts and crafts, story walks, the Mr. Bill Kids Show and more. Vendor Alley offers a variety of artwork, crafts, decorations and other merchandise. During set times, visitors can try out the giant swing and mobile climbing wall. The popular multi-use trails are also open for running, biking and walking.
Participants staying overnight on site can choose from a variety of accommodation options including lodges, cabins, tent sites or even car camping. In addition, various meal packages are available.
