The 2024 PGA Tour season concludes this week with the Tour Championship at East Lake, and the finale is also a big-money week for the 30 Tour pros who made it to the final round of the playoffs, with an incredible $100 million in prize money up for grabs.
This week’s winner will receive a $25 million bonus, up $7 million from Viktor Hovland’s first prize money at the event in 2023. Second place this week brings $12.5 million and third $7.5 million. Scottie Scheffler entered the event as the betting favorite, which is not surprising since he also started at 10 under par, giving him a two-shot lead as the highest-ranked player in the standings. Xander Schauffele, second in the standings, started at 8 under par, while third-place finisher Hideki Matsuyama started at 7 under par. Players ranked 26th through 30th began the event at even par. The Tour Championship has used this staggered entry format since 2019, when the winner received $15 million.
Every player who finishes in the top 12 this week will earn at least $1 million, with last place earning $550,000.
Despite the staggered start, East Lake usually gives players room to maneuver as the course is traditionally low-scoring, but this year it could play very differently thanks to a major redesign.
