Cosmic Electronics has installed a Pioneer Pro Audio XY Series system at the recently opened London venue UNDR.
The versatile event location, which opened at the beginning of May, celebrates sound system culture and, in addition to various events and community events, also serves as a daytime workplace.
Mark Damon, CEO of Cosmic Electronics, said: “It was clear from my first visit that UNDR wanted a system that was not only sonically impressive, but also more than just a nod to the old ‘sound systems’. So we agreed to install more of a dance stack design that would be an instant hit. It was important that the system could cover everything from live bands to a DnB event and everything in between. It has already proven itself to be more than capable of covering every genre of music played at UNDR.”
Cosmic installed audio systems throughout the venue, using a mix of XY Series professional audio speakers and CM Series commercial audio speakers from Pioneer Pro Audio.
In the main room, the system (per side) consists of 3 x XY-218HS dual 18-inch horn subwoofers, 2 x XY-2E 8-inch passive/bi-amp mid-tweeters, 1 x XY-1 dual 12-inch hybrid loaded LF speaker and 1 x XY-2 passive mid-tweeter as infill. A pair of XY-152 two-way full-range speakers are used for DJ monitoring, while the bar area is covered by 3 x XY-101 10-inch two-way passives and a single XY-215S dual 15-inch subwoofer. The system is designed so that the bar area can be used as a standalone system or in conjunction with the main room.
To complement the XY Series in areas requiring lower sound pressure, Cosmic installed a pair of CM-S58T 8-inch surface-mounted speakers on the venue’s terrace, with another pair used for the restrooms. Two Powersoft X8 DSP and a Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 amplifier power the system.

We looked at lots of systems but when we saw and heard what Mark and Oz from Cosmic Audio were suggesting we were instantly sold. Mark and the guys at Pioneer Pro Audio have done everything humanly possible to build and install a unique system that not only looks great but sounds incredible too.”
