Stephen Curry will stay in the Bay for the near future.
The star guard has agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension that will keep him with the Golden State Warriors through the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The contract extension is reportedly set to be signed today.

Curry has two years left on his contract, but he reportedly wanted to reach an extension this summer. The 36-year-old guard has $178 million guaranteed over the next three years of his contract.
Although Golden State may have wanted to extend his contract for longer, the extension is capped at one year due to the NBA’s over-38 rule, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, teams are not allowed to offer contracts of four or more years to players who are older than 38 or who will turn 38 during the contract term. Curry will be 38 when this extension begins in 2026.
Curry has spent his entire career with the Warriors after being drafted by the team in 2009. In an interview with Yahoo Sports in July, the Golden State Warriors star said he wants to be “a Warrior for life.”
A ten-time All-Star, two-time MVP and a key player in leading the team to four NBA championships, Curry holds franchise records in points, assists, steals, 3-pointers made and more.
