FORT WORTH — Jesika Lynn Jones will spend 60 years in prison for to intentionally give their children medication up to and including poisoning.
Court documents showed the 32-year-old gave a child a mixture of Benadryl, trazodone and hydroxyzine. Doctors said the victim was poisoned by the Benadryl, putting her at risk of seizures, cardiac arrhythmia, respiratory arrest, coma and even death.
Another of her children, investigators said, went to the doctor for years, where Jones tried to convince the child he was having seizures. Investigators said she posted on social media that several of her children had cancer and then deleted it. Investigators said she also tried to claim her son was autistic. Investigators said the boy was 2 years old, too young for that diagnosis.
On January 10, Jones signed a plea deal to charges of injury to a child causing serious physical/mental injury and abandonment/endangerment of a child by reckless criminal negligence.
Although she was free on bail, authorities determined that Jones had violated her bail conditions by being around children again and is suspected of suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
