Overwatch2 Fans hope Blizzard follows Fortnite‘s footsteps in its recent decision to offer expired Battle Pass skins for purchase over a year later. The unfortunate nature of seasonal Battle Passes in Overwatch2 is that after the current season ends, all unearned content will be permanently unavailable. This is how Battle Passes work in most major online titles, although game-related items such as weapons in games like Call of Duty or XDefiant remain unlockable in the form of challenges after the end of each season.
Battle Passes have been the subject of controversy since their emergence on the online gaming scene in the late 2010s. The system gives players the opportunity to receive cosmetic rewards at a price at the start of each season. However, players who have paid for a Battle Pass that they were unable to complete often feel like they wasted their money, and many have to grind for hours to get everything they paid for. In 2021 Halo Infinite introduced Battle Passes that do not expire, allowing the player to decide which pass they want to develop their XP for. Halo Infinite was praised for its player-friendly Battle Pass approach, but unfortunately no other major online game has adopted it in the years since.

In the wake of Fortnite After it was recently announced that future Battle Pass items would be available for purchase 18 months after their original release, fans of other online games are praising the idea. Overwatch2 Community particularly admires Fortnite‘s Battle Pass change and hopes Blizzard implements it sometime in the future. In a game where players often become attached to their main hero, it can be painful to permanently miss out on a cool skin, spray, or voice line. However, some players believe that Battle Pass skins lose their value and status when they become available to everyone at a later date.
Overwatch 2 fans want expired Battle Pass items to appear later in the shop
It is difficult to say whether Overwatch2 will follow Fortnite The game has already taken a step in this direction by recently adding Mythic Prisms to make Battle Pass content available later in the shop. This new currency, which players can earn within the Overwatch2 Battle Pass allows fans to purchase Mythic Hero skins from past seasons in the in-game shop. Not every player can complete every Battle Pass, so this is a chance for players to grab some of the game’s most dazzling skins that they may have originally missed. In the future Overwatch2 could take this system a step further and include other previous Battle Pass items in the shop.
If Overwatch2 If this Battle Pass change were to be implemented, it would likely take several seasons, as fundamental changes Blizzard makes to the game usually take several months to go live. Until then, Overwatch2 Players can look forward to Season 12 and the arrival of the newest support hero, Juno, on August 27.
