With a lot to discuss during the livestream, it was easy to get overwhelmed by all of the upcoming Nintendo titles, but one in particular caught the eye of fans of the classics.
That’s right, Nintendo is expanding its Switch Online NES library with Tetris this winter.
The NES version of Tetris from 1989/90 is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch later this year as part of Nintendo’s plan to revive the classic.
Although we have not received an official release date, we have seen some news of the Tetris forever Trailer.
In addition, it is the first time that Japan will receive the Nintendo version of the NES title.
Tetris will complement the Switch’s NES library, alongside some popular titles such as Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of ZeldaEarthbound beginnings And Ninja Gaiden.
Of course, to be eligible to play, you must own a Nintendo Switch and also be a member of the Nintendo Switch Online service.
Apart from that, it is completely free.
“If I remember correctly, this is the first time that the NES version of Tetris ever re-released,” one fan said of the news.
“That’s cool. The Tengen version on the NES is better in almost every way, but that thing will never see the light of day again, so this is a nice consolation prize.”
Another said: “I am more excited about Tetris forever was announced at the same Direct, but I’ve never played the NES version Tetris so I’ll definitely check it out. The more Tetrises (Tetrii?) the better.”
I totally agree.
