Like A Dragon/Yakuza series developer RGG Studio has scheduled an RGG Summit for September 20th, the same date as last fall’s RGG Summit, and will apparently be making an announcement soon. Naturally, fans have quickly started speculating/wishing for things they think the studio would like to pull out of the hat.
The date of the summit should be quite interesting, as RGG staff, including studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama, had previously stated during a live stream in July that their next game would be revealed during this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which is scheduled to take place from September 26 to 29. Yes, that’s the week after this summit.

This has naturally caused some confusion among fans as to how RGG would handle the hinted announcement of the new game, as the dates would preclude simply using the Summit to build on a big TGS announcement by, say, revealing more details or showing a trailer. So it remains to be seen what the studio is up to, but it seems a bizarre decision to schedule the Summit a week earlier when RGG would still hold off on a big reveal. So it wouldn’t be surprising if the first announcement of the next game perhaps came at the Summit instead, with more details at TGS.
Finally, the RGG Summit on September 20th of last year was quite newsworthy, as it revealed the exact release date of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and some trailers for the game, and also showed the beginning of Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
RGG just announced a Nintendo Switch port of Yakuza Kiwami for October, and the Prime Video TV series Like a Dragon: Yakuza is also set to launch in the same month. SEGA also made quite a splash earlier this month by trademarking “Yakuza Wars.”
Naturally, fans of the developer on social media are hoping that there will be some new reveals at the summit. Some are pining for a new Judgement game, a full Kiwami remake of Yakuza 3, and even a remaster of the spin-off Yakuza: Dead Souls. Oh, and there are people begging for a Gaiden title starring Goro Majima, because of course there is. Honestly, that sounds pretty cool to me.
All you have to do is turn on the Summit, which is 11:00am BST/6:00am ET/3:00am PT on September 20th to find out. What are you hoping to see? Let us know below!
