BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Activities at SpaceX were the focus of a panel discussion held during a Brownsville Chamber of Commerce luncheon event on Aug. 27.
The event, held at the Brownsville Events Center, was titled “Crossing Borders and Beyond – The Impact of U.S.-Mexico Relations and Space Exploration in the Rio Grande Valley.”
The moderator was Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Texas Association of Business. The panelists were Norman Roy Garza, Jr., executive director of the Texas Space Commission, Helen Ramirez, Brownsville city manager, Judith Arrieta Mungia, Mexico’s consul in Brownsville, and Kathryn Lueders, general manager of SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica.
During the conversation, Hamer said, “You can make a very compelling argument that SpaceX is not just the most important company in the United States. Maybe it’s the most important company in the galaxy.”
