BLACK CANYON CITY, Arizona. – An allegedly impaired driver who crashed his car caused a power outage throughout the community of Black Canyon City. Authorities said.
The incident occurred on August 27 at around 8:30 p.m. on Coldwater Road. Yavapai County According to the sheriff’s office, residents reported hearing a bang before the power went out in their homes.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a man in his late 50s had driven into mailboxes and a street sign, damaged a power pole and then drove into a ditch.
“The damage to the APS tower resulted in the entire town of Black Canyon City being without power,” YCSO said.
Investigators believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to a hospital in North Phoenix to treat the injuries sustained in the accident. His name was not disclosed.
APS crews responded to Black Canyon City and power was restored at 10:30 p.m.
The allegedly impaired driver caused approximately $10,000 in damage in the accident.
