Shamier Little is an Olympic champion.
On Saturday in Paris, former Texas A&M track and field star Shamier Little (born 2017) helped the U.S. women’s 4×400-meter relay team dominate and secure the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Little crossed the finish line with his Team USA colleagues Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas and Alexis Holmes in 3:15:27 to win the gold award and set a new American record.
Little clocked a time of 49.48 seconds, the second fastest time ever. The USA has now won the last eight Olympic medals in the event.
As the second Aggie to win gold in Paris, Little has already won two Olympic medals and has already added silver to her collection.
Little’s silver medal came just seven days ago when Team USA won a medal in the mixed 4×400-meter relay. After setting a world record of 3:08:80 in the first round, the Americans posted a time of 3:07:07 to finish second on the podium.
Behind America in the women’s 4×400-m relay, the Netherlands took silver and Great Britain took home bronze.
While at Texas A&M, Little won the national title in the women’s 400-meter hurdles three times in a row. Her dominance in the event continued when she was crowned the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Champion in the 400-meter hurdles in 2015, 2018 and 2024.
She still holds Texas A&M’s best time in the event from 2016.
With the historic win, Little became the 14th Aggie to ever win a gold medal. The last winners were Athing Mu (800 m, 4×400 m relay) and Khris Middleton (basketball) in 2020 and Bryce Deadmon (4×400 m relay) in Tokyo and Paris.
It is truly a golden achievement.
