Despite its renowned track record, Kaleidescape continues to improve its premium AV systems with the new versatile and feature-rich Strato V movie player.
The Strato V can be used as a standalone entertainment solution or expanded into a more robust entertainment solution with a Kaleidescape Terra Prime media server, offering up to 96TB of storage.
Priced at $3,995, or about the same price as an audio or video disc player, the compact home entertainment solution offers the same picture quality and rich sound that are the hallmarks of the company’s more expensive and sought-after systems. CE ProBob Archer, AV guru at , noted in his recent review of the Strato V:
Kaleidescape’s new movie player comes with a 2-meter high-fidelity cable from THX Interconnect, developed in collaboration with Pixelgen. THX Interconnect HDMI 2.1b cables are designed to transmit 100% uncompressed high-speed signals up to 8K-10K at up to 48Gbps.
“We wanted to create something more affordable for the Kaleidescape system, but one that could scale to huge systems over time,” says Tayloe Stansbury, Chairman and CEO (and customer) of Kaleidescape. CE Pro in our Q&A video ahead of CEDIA Expo 2024 above.
Strato V offers Kaleidescape users flexibility and functionality
For integrators requiring longer runs of THX interconnect cables, lengths range from 0.5 meters (1.64 feet) to 15 meters (49.2 feet).
Like other Kaleidescape products, the Strato V delivers lossless audio, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The 500mm spatial source component produces uncompressed 4K in SDR, as well as HDR10 and Dolby Vision, with bitrates up to 100Mbps at 60 frames per second.
“This product is different from previous products in that it downloads and stores movies itself, without the need for a server,” Stansbury explains, “but it downloads them at a very high speed – the same speed as our servers. And then you can play them directly on the device, adding servers and players over time.”
In addition, Kaleidescape states that the Strato V can be integrated into third-party control systems.
