Little Joe Hernandezthe iconic figure of Tejano music known as the “King of the Brown Sound” recently underwent emergency heart surgery. According to an announcement on Little Joe Y La Familia’s social media, he had a stent implanted in a successful surgery on August 22. He is currently recovering at home and his doctors have prescribed two weeks of rest to ensure a full recovery.
Due to this health setback, Little Joe’s performance was rescheduled for Saturday, August 31st at Z Venue in Victoria, Texas, has been officially canceled. The announcement offered a sincere apology to fans who purchased tickets and assured that a new artist will be announced to take his place. “Once again, we sincerely apologize to all fans who purchased tickets,” the statement said.
Little Joe Hernandez has been a central figure in Tejano music for over five decades. He has won multiple Grammy Awards with his band La Familia and is celebrated as a pioneer of the “Brown Sound,” a unique blend of traditional Mexican music with country and jazz influences. His contributions have significantly shaped Tejano music and brought it into the mainstream.
