ESPN’s signature morning debate First attempt with guest commentator and executive producer Stephen A. Smith and host Molly Qerim announced three live, on-site shows at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) this fall.
The scheduled locations are Howard University on September 20, Tennessee State University on October 11 and Clark Atlanta University at Morehouse College on November 8. All shows will air on Fridays.
September 20 at Howard University (Washington, DC)
Howard University, one of the most prominent HBCU programs in the country, will face Hampton University the next day in the fourth annual Battle for the Real HU game.
October 11 at Tennessee State University (Nashville, Tennessee)
The First attempt The team is joined by former NFL star and Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, who has been head coach of Tennessee State’s football team since 2021.
November 8th at Clark Atlanta at Morehouse College (Atlanta, Georgia)
Historic Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University form one of the oldest and largest associations of HBCUs in the world. This weekend, rivals Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta will face off at BT Harvey Stadium in Atlanta.
First attempt has attended HBCUs or supported HBCU Week since 2019.The show traveled to Winston-Salem State University (2023), where alumna Smith lives, Savannah State University (2023), where alumna Shannon Sharpe lives, and Florida A&M with comedian Kevin Hart and film producer Will Packer (2021).
The show also celebrated HBCU Week at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2022 and at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2019.
First attempt airs weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon ET on ESPN.
