EastEnders viewers believe they have spotted a glaring error following the disastrous incident at Peggy’s nightclub which left a teenager fighting for his life. Drama unfolded this week as chaos reigned in Albert Square due to Peggy’s club being dangerously overcrowded, leading to a fatal incident.
Chaos broke out after Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) manipulated the booking system and released extra tickets for Penny Branning’s (Kitty Castledine) holiday event.
As panic broke out, Penny and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) tried to evacuate everyone safely, but the emergency exit was blocked.
Terrified partygoers screamed and glass shattered as they realized they were trapped. Zack instructed Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) to escape through an alternate emergency exit through the office.
However, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) were locked up and knew nothing about the disaster that was unfolding outside.
In an attempt to escape, Lauren broke down the door with a fire extinguisher, but was trampled and knocked unconscious by the fleeing crowd.
As people rushed upstairs, Penny was pushed out of her wheelchair. At the scene of the accident, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) spotted his daughter Penny being taken away by paramedics who gave him heartbreaking news, the Daily Star reported.
Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was distraught when he witnessed his youngest daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) being carried away on a stretcher in critical condition and suffering cardiac arrest in the midst of the chaos.
But it wasn’t just the heartbreaking scene that caught audiences’ attention – diehard EastEnders fans quickly noticed that the screams in the background bore a striking resemblance to the sounds of an earlier disaster in Albert Square 14 years ago.
One eagle-eyed fan flocked to X and shared side-by-side clips of both incidents, noting: “They did it again. They used the screams from the 2010 Vic fire. You can hear Janine calling out for Ryan #EastEnders,” accompanied by laugh-out-loud emojis.
Another fan said: “They could have at least made new screaming noises.”
A third Twitter user chimed in, noting: “They could have made new screaming noises instead of Janine screaming for Ryan.”
Another fan posted, “Oh my god you can hear Ricky,” while others chimed in with recognition and amusement, “I thought I heard the same sound effects,” followed by the inevitable flood of laughing emojis.
Meanwhile, another critic highlighted her discovery, saying, “Oh my God, you’re right.”
