The Council Rock Newtown Little League team has clinched a spot in the Little League World Series following a nationally televised game on Friday.
The Council Rock Newtown Little League team defeated Washington DC 5-1 in a rain-delayed Mid-Atlantic Region final in Bristol, Connecticut.
According to PhillyBurbs.com, the team, which remained undefeated at the district, section and state levels, once again demonstrated its skills during the tournament.
Friday’s win followed an 11-1 victory over Maryland on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s win set up a showdown with the Washington DC team, a rematch of last weekend’s game in which Council Rock defeated Newtown Little League.
The Little League World Series begins next week in Williamsport. Teams from all over the world will compete in one of the most prestigious tournaments in youth baseball.
ESPN and ESPN2 will broadcast Friday’s game.
