We heard that Hillary Clinton canceled her participation in a fundraiser in the Hamptons for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on Monday after the former Secretary of State came down with COVID-19.
According to sources, her husband and former President Bill Clinton spoke at the Sag Harbor event along with Harris’ husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
The event took place at the home of major art collectors Lisa and Richard Perry, who are known to own works by Frank Stella, Alexander Calder, Ellsworth Kelly and Donald Judd, among other high-profile artists.
The top-tier tickets cost a whopping $100,000 apiece, and an invitation seen by Page Six read: “This is probably one of the last small events in the New York area before the election, so you don’t want to miss it.”
According to the invitation, the event’s chairmen included Sharon and Jon Corzine, Crystal McCrary McGuire and Ray McGuire, Brooke Garber Neidich and Dan Neidich, Laurie Tisch and others.
A source said of the Clintons’ involvement: “They do not have to appear at these events,” adding that the change was made at short notice.
Earlier that day, there was another Democratic fundraiser at the home of MWW head Michael Kempner, who we heard is a big Clinton supporter.
Another source told us that “the two events combined raised over $2 million in just four days, which shows that the enthusiasm (for Harris) is real.”
Hillary Clinton, 76, the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, received a standing ovation at the Democratic National Convention.
The Post also reported that several attendees at the Chicago convention later tested positive for COVID-19, with several people posting their diagnoses on social media.
A representative for Hillary has not contacted us.
Kempner also reportedly hosted Barack Obama at his New Jersey home in 2010.
Earlier this month, Joy Behar and Chris Rock were spotted at a fundraiser for Minnesota Governor Walz in the Hamptons on Thursday, where tickets fetched up to $150,000.
