No matter how much you think you know about a TV show, no matter how many times you’ve watched it from start to finish, chances are you’ve missed some things. These details draw little or no attention, but can add a whole new dimension to the show.
This can happen in many different ways. Shows like Community have perfected environmental storytelling, often having entire plotlines play out in the background. However, while such moments are little more than fun details or Easter eggs, other shows are much deeper and darker than this one.
Shadowy supporting characters can stalk the characters without them realizing it, villains can lurk right under your nose without anyone noticing, secret stories about the deaths of many innocent children can be hidden in the details of a larger narrative, and much more.
You’d probably expect to see a creepy detail or two in some of the shows below, and perhaps less so in others. Whether expected or not, they’re hidden, only to ultimately reveal a horrific, creepy, or downright uncomfortable secret if the audience knows where to look.
There was a time (before seasons three and four) when the Umbrella Academy was truly exceptional, as the team was initially brought back together, only to be torn apart again by the meddling of Leonard Peabody (John Magaro). However, he may not have been the Academy’s only obsessive stalker.
While he targeted Vanya (Elliot Page) and used her powers to bring down her brothers and sisters, there was another, more subtle person who just seemed to keep popping up. The same woman was near the academy four times, for decades, without changing her appearance, which simply can’t be a coincidence.
She was there when the bank robbery was prevented in one of the series’ first flashbacks, she was with Klaus (Robert Sheehan) and Luther (Tom Hopper) at the rave party, she watched Klaus activate his briefcase on the bus, and she finally asked the siblings if Five (Aiden Gallagher) wanted to go bowling with their children as they made plans to prevent the impending apocalypse.
There’s no way that this actress was used as an extra on four different occasions without anyone noticing, is there? Surely there must have been some ulterior motive here that will never come to light. Who knows who she really was or what her true goal might have been?
