Armie Hammer, who has faced scandals and allegations in recent years, has returned to Los Angeles to make a fresh start. The Call Me By Your Name actor explained on Instagram why he decided to return to the city.
Despite being the grandson of oil magnate Armand Hammer, the actor surprisingly struggles to afford gas. Speaking about his truck, Hammer said, “Since I’ve been back in LA, I’ve spent about four to five dollars on gas that I can no longer afford.”
He also said he recently bought a new car that will probably only cost him $10 a month in gas. He went on to talk about the sentimental value of his truck, recalling how it brought his two children home from the hospital and served as his companion on his cross-country trips. He bought it as a gift for himself in 2017.
According to the actor, his last ride with the truck was when he took it to a used car dealer, CarMax, to sell it. He explained how much he loved his truck and hoped that things would eventually get easier and cheaper.
This year, Hammer turns 39 on August 28, which he mentioned in his Instagram video post: “I’m going to start my birthday with a new car, a new apartment and a new life.”
The actor was last seen in 2022 alongside Gal Gadot in the mystery thriller “Death on the Nile”. In 2021, he was accused of rape, abuse and cannibalism. However, he denied this and stated that his relationships were consensual. Even after the investigation, no charges were brought against him. He then separated from his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers.
In 2022, Discovery+ released a psychological thriller documentary titled House of Hammer, which revolves around the life of Armie Hammer and his family. Directed by Elli Hakani and Julian P. Hobbs, the miniseries divided the internet as some believed the actor was falsely accused, while others were convinced this was true, given the Hammer family’s manipulative and corrupt history.
In June 2024, Hammer spoke about the scandal on Tyler Ramsey’s Painful Lessons podcast, revealing that he was doing better than before and that he relied on his job to get recognition and love.
