• Beasley Media Group announced the official launch of Augusta todaya new online news site for the citizens of Augusta, GA.
Augusta today focuses on local news in, around and about the greater Augusta area. This hyperlocal publication was developed with the goal of giving people both the stories they want and the news they need, showcasing talented Augusta-area writers like Ashley “AB” Brown, Austin RhodesAnd Chris Fisher.
“’Free and unconstrained’ – that is the mantra,” said Steven UhlesEditor in chief of the website, who will also contribute as a columnist. “We wanted to make sure that these stories were not blocked by a paywall and that our conversations with the community remained unhindered and unencumbered.”
Inspired by both the classic daily newspaper model and the more liberal approach of alternative weeklies, Augusta today is designed to both inform and entertain. The site will feature breaking local news, sports reports, lifestyle features and a series of columns ranging from road trips (Tea Gentry‘s “Blue Highways”) to local politics (Austin Rhodes’ “I’m Just Saying”) to things that happen out of a test of courage, like Bryan “Dub” Axelson‘s “No Prep”. Other columnists include John Patrick And Allen Childers.
“We are all very excited about Augusta today and what we think it will mean for this community,” said Kent DunnVP/Market Manager of Beasley Augusta. “We see this as a great addition to our radio station portfolio here in the Augusta market and a true extension of our local approach to community engagement.”
