Flavor Flav was known for his Taste of love candidates, and now he has a new nickname of his own.
The star of “Public Enemy” was a guest in the latest episode of Policy, hosted by Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson. When asked if he plans to collaborate with Taylor Swift, as he is an outspoken fan of hers, Flav replied: “Not only am I a huge Swiftie, I also have a new name. My new name is now King Swiftie. Flavor Flav is the king of all Swifties.”
He continued: “I was at her show in Hamburg. She was just rocking that shit, man. And she was shouting to me from the stage. I love Taylor Swift, man, you know her lyrics, she’s real. She writes about a lot of things that she’s been through. She stays real with her fans and that’s why I support her a lot.”
Speaking of being realistic, Flav also talked about the difference between music today and back in the 1980s and 1990s. “Today is a lot different than it was back when we first started putting out records and stuff. Back when we put out records, they had a message,” he explained. “Now there’s a whole lot of people just making rap records. There’s a lot of good rap records right now. Today’s records are mostly bragging and boasting and shit, guns, drugs, sex, gang violence. A lot of the records that are being made today, rap records, are about that. But that’s how they live in their neighborhoods.”
He concluded: “There are a lot of fakes out there. Real people do real things and real people recognize real people.”
